Things we love…Flowering Maple Chinese Lanterns!!

We went to our local Botanical garden this week and were touring the Conservatory (the climate was like a rainforest); so perfect for a first, or any date! Filled with amazing exotic plants, fruits and the most lovely waterfall, we came upon the most amazing sight.

The Flowering Maple Chinese Lantern: it looks like the most delicate of Chinese lanterns and this plant hailed from the Rainforests of Costa Rica. It starts blooming here in December, which makes it quite special considering nothing else blooms then! Its scientific name is Abutilon (which sounds suspiciously like an inhaled medication).

We’re going to see if we can grow our own this year!
