FishFlix.com Review

This company sells movies in almost every category you can imagine!  At FishFlix.com, you can find biographies, Biblical movies, comedies, documentaries, Biblical teaching, educational films, Christian family entertainment, and more.  There are cartoons, Blu-Rays, boxed sets of various series (many of which you’ll recognize), regular DVDs, and even bargain-priced movies.  There’s pretty much anything a Christian family might desire to watch!

FishFlix.com ReviewWe received Privileged Species: How the Cosmos is Designed for Human Life.  This 33-minute film discusses many of the features not only of earth but of human beings that make our planet uniquely suited to human life.  Really, our earth is different from any other planet in our solar system, and it is the only one where we carbon-based life forms can freely and comfortably exist.

We, as a family, are really interested in science in many forms.  But even if you’re not a science buff, I believe you’ll find this movie quite fascinating!  My husband, son and I watched it together (our boy is 13) and we all thoroughly enjoyed it.  And Privileged Species covers so many facets of science that affect human life and our planet; chemistry, biology, genetics, physics, and physical science.  Is our planet something that just appeared one day….or is the hand of an Intelligent Designer behind all these features that make earth  so perfect for us?

The film combines breathtaking cinematography with interesting interviews and clearly-presented scientific facts, many of which will probably surprise you as they did us!  It starts out with Bill Nye, the Science Guy, speaking at a conference in which he says that he is nothing but a speck; as are our planet, solar system and so on.  But are we only just meaningless little specks?  I would respectfully disagree with Mr. Nye and say that no, we aren’t!

Privileged Species then goes on to present scientific evidence that contrasts sharply with the Science Guy’s (and others’) viewpoints.  Geneticist Michael Denton believes that the evidence of the past century, and the scientific discoveries and breakthroughs made during it, actually illustrate the opposite; that man and his universe seem to have been carefully and intelligently designed and set in motion.

Denton discusses the “Four Fundamental Forces” described by physicists which are essential in order to have stable galaxies and planets:

  1.   Gravitational force
  2.   Electromagnetic force
  3.   Strong nuclear force
  4.   Weak nuclear force

The film shares that if even one of these were either stronger or weaker than it is, our earth and universe—and life on them—could not exist.

Some of the other things you’ll learn about by watching Privileged Species include:

  • Supernovas and the elements of the periodic table
  • Carbon, hydrogen and water and how they have to be perfectly allotted for human life
  • Carbon and its uniqueness as a building block
  • Why temperatures on earth promote human life
  • and more!

I don’t want to share too much from this wonderful film and hinder your enjoyment of it.  But I can say that our entire family enjoyed it so much!  The science is sound and clearly explained.  I learned so much that I had never known before.  And we were all very encouraged by everything that we heard and saw!

We all highly recommend Privileged Species for your family.  You’ll love the beautiful cinematography and you’ll find the scientific evidence for intelligent design quite fascinating!

You can purchase Privileged Species and many other excellent films at the FishFlix.com website.  DVDs are packaged in the usual DVD cases you’re used to seeing, and shipping is free for orders totaling $35 and over.
