Just the thing for a smile: “I Draw On Cats” (review)

I received the silliest, happiest, funniest book to review a few weeks ago.  Do you remember the connect-the-dots books we all drew in when we were kids?  This is the hipper, grown-up version you’ll think is hilarious—whether you’re a cat lover or not!

Summer 2016 279

I Draw On Cats: A Connect-the-Dots Activity Book is a compilation of funny cat photos by A.R. Coffelt.  On their own, these photos would all be quite meme-worthy.  But Coffelt has reimagined them as something more.  Each photo has bright colorful lines drawn on it, cartooning the cat into something else.  But the author then added numbered dots, so that the reader can add his or her own art to the process.

Summer 2016 283So, for example, instead of a cat-worthy meme you end up with a silly (yet charming) photo of a bride kitty on her wedding day.

Summer 2016 282Or a handsome bearded kitty diving into a bowl of milk.

And more!  Readers will have the opportunity to transform everyday kitties into ninja, strollers out on a rainy day, mountain climbers….even reboots of famous artworks!

This 7″ x 7 1/4″ softcover book is 48 pages long; yet each page has a photo on both front and back.  Even more fun, the pages fold out like an accordion; they’re all attached to one another by the fold.  So the book’s very composition adds yet another element of whimsy for the reader’s enjoyment.

Summer 2016 281I Draw On Cats: A Connect-the-Dots Activity Book is funny and enjoyable, and some of the pictures will really make you giggle.  Who would enjoy this?  Anyone who’s got an artsy bent; your friend who needs a little pick-me-up or a smile; or really anyone who’s looking for some delight in a world of serious or alarming news stories.  My family truly enjoyed this, and we happily recommend it!

Summer 2016 284

You can find I Draw On Cats: A Connect-the-Dots Activity Book at Amazon and probably at your favorite brick-and-mortar bookstore.

Enjoy!  –Wren

Cleo and Oz Blog Takeover Day 3 of 4: Cleo Hides from Oz

Summer 2015 715

Ow, did that camera just flash? I’m starting to question your photo skills, Oliver.  Anyway, Cleocatra here. I used to be the diva. Until Ozy came along. He was good brother but then…

He grew.

Like, a lot. And Finch always hears a yowl from me as he attacks me, I used to do that, but now the tables have been spun around a bit, or no? Wait. The tables have been turned a bit and now I have to use Oliver as a bodyguard which he doesn’t mind. I’m a little timid around people now. Little bit. Teensy tiny bit, maybe? They still love me and I love them too, but when other people are over I just hide a bit more. It was my diva thing, and Ozy steals the spotlight, unintentionally of course, but I WAS THE DIVA!!!

Ahem. Sorry about that rant. Anyway, a bit about me-YOWLLLLLLLLLLLLL OZY GET OFF MEEE!!! Ouch, ahem. Someday I will rule the blog. Have you seen how pathetic Oliver’s plan was? Here’s mine:

Oh, so I like his food and he does too. So what, can’t a diva turn the tables on…

Oh forget it. I’m the Diva!

Cleo and Oz Blog Takeover Day 2 of 4-Oliver?

Summer 2015 714Shh. Keep your voice down, people reading this ytubyetawposta. Arg, dog paws are so hard to type with. It’s sort of a keyboard skitter-type thing. Anyway, this is supposed to be a 4-dayghjkg period where Cleo gets 2 posts and Oz gets 2 but I needed to tell you some things. So one of them gets only one post. Anyway-gjfahdf, I have devised a plan to take over the blog myself. Oz cannot see it and Cleo definitely cannot so I have no idea why I left it in my food bowl. Here, I’ll go get it-hjfyaudrfuOlive world dominationIt is very nifty and complicated. Wow. Awesome write right? Man I hate autocorrect hjftvuryuiauy. Oh boy here comes Oz and he’s going to pounce! Save draft fast NOOOOOOOO

(Oliver’s blog post was unexpectedly halted when Ozy pounced on him right after he saved it.)

Cleo and Oz Blog Takeover Day 1 of 4-Oz’s thoughts about his food

Summer 2015 739Hello Hello Hello! Ozy here! Today we’ll talk about…my food.

Finch is a vegan herself, but I am a true meat-eater, which can bring our tastes to a screeching halt when brought together. The food they get me? I WANT THEIR FOOD! NOT MINE!

They think I like it, but Cleo always eats my “kitten food”, as they call it, (wait, do I even eat that anymore? Ah, who cares. It was yummy while I was a kitten, but we have a slightly large amount of it, but at least she likes it!) and I end up eating Oliver’s food. But when push comes to shove, and when shove comes to eating the food they get me, I guess anyone can compromise now and again. Both are good anyway! Cause hey, nobody’s perfect. Now if you’ll excuse me, I am going to viciously attack Cleo now.

Catching up with Cleo and Oz!

We were away for the fourth of July weekend, so OZ and Cleo went to their favorite Spa to relax. There they watch live fish in an aquarium and have a TV mounted with non stop bird videp running. Cleo’s favorite thing is to hang out on the top of the multi storied cat condos and yell at people and OZ spends most of his time outside (it’s completely enclosed).

I’ll share a cool app later that allowed us to check up on them via camera next time. Totally worth it for piece of mind!!

Here’s them helping us pack for the trip:

Things we love…Red Nose Day!

We decided to do a company fundraiser last week for Red Nose Day; we were able to have 2000 noses donated and sold them to our associates for $1.00 each. Everyone was encouraged to take selfie’s with their noses on and we posted them on our social media site with a shout out to the vendor who donated!

We had a blast doing it and raised over 300.00 (all proceeds direct to charity). Here is one of my photos:

You can still donate!

More about the charity:
“Red Nose Day is a campaign dedicated to raising money for children and young people living in poverty by simply having fun and making people laugh. The inaugural Red Nose Day will be held in the US on May 21st, 2015”.
