It’s adapted from the ideas expressed in Dr. Meg Meeker’s book of the same name, and I LOVED IT. Let me tell you more–plus keep reading for the giveaway!

I have to say that Pure Flix is knocking it out of the park with their Pure Flix Original films and series. Their Originals are creative, fun (and funny), thought-provoking, moving; and really, unlike anything else that is on the entertainment market today. Strong Fathers, Strong Daughters is the third of their Original programming I’ve seen this summer and it, like its predecessors, was exceptional.
The cast was wonderful and SO believable in their roles, whether they’re playing the adults or the teen and kid actors. (Interesting fun fact: the two sets of couples who play the parents are actually married in real life!) The couples show great contrast in vocation and calling, yet both obviously love each other, and their children, deeply. Some of the side characters are played for laughs but the audience always gets the joke.
This film was inspired by Dr. Meg Meeker’s New York Time bestselling book Strong Fathers, Strong Daughters: 10 Secrets Every Father Should Know. Dr. Meeker is a pediatrician who noticed how powerfully fathers impacted the young women (for good or for ill) that she saw in her practice. How Pure Flix took Dr. Meeker’s book and transformed it into a movie was pretty unbelievable (in a good way!). It’s never pedantic or heavy-handed, but demonstrates vividly via storyline (and credible acting) what loving fathers can do in and for their daughters’ lives.
My impressions of Strong Fathers, Strong Daughter
Strong Fathers, Strong Daughters was incredible. I felt a LOT of emotions as I watched. Happy, entertained, saddened, encouraged, and finally joyful. (With some happy tears). I thought of my own experiences as a daughter and what I’d hoped to be as a parent myself. But finally, I felt joyful and inspired. That’s a pretty fantastic journey for me in a movie! Also, I think I’m going to get a copy of Dr. Meeker’s Strong Fathers, Strong Daughters: 10 Secrets Every Father Should Know!
And here’s just a good word for both parents AND daughters: as Dr. Meeker says (and you’ll totally want to watch the interview below), it is NEVER too late for us to learn how to parent more lovingly and effectively; or to heal from the wounds of the past. The truth is, each of us has an amazing, perfect heavenly Father who loves us perfectly (whether we’re parents OR children!). He can transform our image of what a Father can be; and He is faithfully waiting there offering His love. We can reach out to Him and know He won’t ever reject us. And His love can heal!
